seeking to model Christ and transform lives

We represent the healing ministry of the Methodist Church

Medical Missions, which are medical outreaches and camps undertaken by Methodist Health Professionals in partnership with others to under resourced communities

Policy and programme development initiated and coordinated at the Conference Secretariat by the Health Directorate

To model CHRIST in healing

We model CHRIST in two ways:

As individuals - by following Jesus' example of aplying kingdom values of compassion, justice, faithfulness, oneness and excellence to the work of healing

As a health system - by creating models of care for the guidance of other healthcare providers

To transform lives through holistic healing

Our holistic healing involves going to towns and villages:

Firstly, to help individuals and their families renew their thinking about healthy living.

Secondly, to bring restoration to individuals who experience ill-health and

Thirdly, to work with communities to address the determinants of poor health and thus promote healthy communities.

The tenets that guide our every action...

This is the disposition of the heart, which inclines men to think favorably of their fellow men, and to do them good. Without it every act of sacrifice and service is meaningless.

Scriputral Basis “When he saw the crowds, he felt compassion for them, because they were weary and worn out” Matt 9:36 (HCSB).

This implies right attitudes and right actions when making decisions with respect to all manner of persons. It means treating all persons with dignity and not discriminating against any person irrespective of sex, social or economic status, religion or colour.

Scriputral Basis “O man . . . what does the LORD require of you, to do justly . . . “ Micah 6:8 (NIV).

This implies that in managing resources entrusted to us and in the performance of our duties, we are expected to be trustworthy and truthful.

Scriputral Basis “It is required of stewards that a man be found faithful” 2 Cor 4:2 (NKJV).

This means respecting the differences in persons and institutions we work with and at the same time working with them as members of the same team to achieve a common purpose.

Scriputral Basis “Make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose” Phil 2:2 (NASB).

This implies that we are expected in all our endeavours to distinguish ourselves above our contemporaries and produce an excellent work that is pleasing to God.

Scriputral Basis “... Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps, because an excellent spirit was in him...” Daniel 6:3 (KJV).
